RESEARCH OUR VISITING ARTIST PAUL RAMIREZ JONAS

For Monday March 15, bring to class for discussion your research on Paul. Look for reviews online. See and read links below.

Paul Ramirez Jonas creates as he speaks. He builds his pieces from found systems and pre-existing texts—everything from diaries to footpaths to sheet music. What others would call re-inventions, he calls re-enactment, following the blueprints laid out in the originals. Considering himself merely a reader, he treats these systems and texts as a score, where the act of “reading” can take the form of a performance, sculpture, photograph, or video.

New Crit and Class Discussion Schedule for 2nd Half of Spring Semester

Mondays will be Discussion on YOUR topic/article/artist. Thursdays will be critiques for the rest of the semester starting Thurs. March 25. So we have now have a crit EVERY WEEK (group 1, one week, group 2, the next), until each of you have had three more crits. You will have only two weeks between your group’s crit.
